DOG TRAINING SYSTEMS THAT GO BEYOND RESULTS

KRIS BUTLER EXPLAINS HER UNIQUE BRAND OF CONNECTING REAL-WORLD
PEOPLE WITH THEIR DOGS

There are many methods of dog training; and for over 20 years, I've attended seminars and studied most of them in depth.

We have more “experts” than ever before writing books and telling us how to raise and train our dogs. Currently, many of them advocate that human family members adapt their lives to facilitate time consuming methods of soliciting, rather than requiring , appropriate behaviors of the dogs who share their busy lives.

My virtual tool box includes a wide range of equipment and experiences from the masters of the dog training world. Hours, days and weeks of continuing education within my twenty-year quest for dog training techniques finally brought me to the realization that there is far more to my profession than teaching behaviors to dogs. I've come to realize, the (usually missing) key to success is in equipping my busy human clients with the knowledge and do-able tools they need to require specific appropriate behaviors of their dogs.

I can't pretend the dogs I train live in vacuums, or laboratories, or in canine packs at dog parks. Each dog I train is part of a unique human family system . I've come to realize that human family systems have as much (or more) to do with dogs' behaviors as does the dog's training. While my dog training methods are results-based and extremely effective, I feel that beyond training , my equally important role is to empower my human clients to elicit appropriate responses from the dogs in their families.

Many canine behaviors that my human clients consider inappropriate actually self-reward the dogs offering the behaviors. Certainly, it's not enough to teach human family members to simply punish their dogs' behaviors – dogs need to know what to do . Human family members must be taught to think pro-actively. “What can I require my dog to do , that prevents him from doing what I don't want him to do?” Beyond that, neither is it enough to solicit specific behaviors from dogs, if my human clients cannot follow through. Busy people, living in the real world, need an uncomplicated way to require the behaviors they ask their dogs for.

I have taken scientific training doctrines and blended them with the latest technology to produce a system that is client-friendly, dog-friendly, and effective.

Our board and train program lays foundations for future communication between dogs and their humans. It begins with a board-and-train program at American Dog Obedience Center . The communication involves teaching, in terms the dog can easily understand, what is needed, and what limits define the relationship.

This training system makes excellent use of high quality technology in training dogs and in preparing human family members to interact with their dogs. Today's quality remote electronic collars (e-collars) are technological wonders, because of the LOW levels at which they can work. I only recently incorporated e-collars into my training systems because of the ability of newer quality models to communicate at extremely low levels. The technical quality of the collar is important! And so, we provide you with a Tri-Tronics Sport Basic G-3 e-collar. The price of the e-collar and Oklahoma sales tax is included in enrollment, and it goes home with your dog.

E-collars are no longer considered a tool of last resort. Using top-of-the-line collars allows me, the trainer, to use e-collars to motivate dogs to offer specific behaviors. More importantly, this new technology allows my human clients to require specific appropriate behaviors of their dogs at home, in a manner they can feel completely comfortable with. Therein we've discovered this tool's greatest value.

People have fallen in love with this system! The ability to focus their available dog-related energy usually yields results beyond my clients' expectations. Following dog training at American Dog Obedience Center 's boarding school, my clients use their limited “dog” time at home in pursuit of achievable, realistic results with their dogs, even when other methods have previously failed.

Dogs love the significant increases in participation levels within their families too. Dogs become reliable, including off leash, and they maintain a great attitude because they are able to understand, clearly, what is expected.

As a result of this training system , the scope of interactions between my clients and their dogs usually broadens. They enjoy their time together! Often far more is possible than was imagined – and this re-energizes and enhances the entire relationship.
